Coming to Canada

I arrived in Canada on the 9th March 2005 with 2 suitcases of clothing and nothing more to my name.

How I got to this point in my life is not important.
What is important is what I have accomplished in the last 8 years.

In 2006 I applied for Permanent Residency (PR), and was denied as I had not met the requirements at the time of applying. There were threats of deportation but I re-applied was finally granted PR in the August of 2007.

2007,was actually a HUGE year for me.
It was the year I turned 30 and also the year I was given a second chance at happiness and love. I married my husband on the 8 November in Jamaica.

2008 I was employed full time, and I have been with the company for 5 years (and counting).

2010 brought the arrival of my Savannah….
….and our family was complete!

2011 we moved from our townhouse and bought a freestanding home.

On the 13th March 2013, I finally became a Canadian Citizen.
It was a very proud moment. I was one of 76 candidates from 36 different countries taking the oath.

All I have accomplished could not have been with out 2 special people who got me to Canada and supported me along my struggle.
Without them I have no idea where I would be.
To Savannah’s Ba and Papa.(My mom and Sebs Dad)

Thank you. Merci.

To any lost souls wondering what life has in store for you,
I have this to say –

Believe in love and second chances.
Believe you can change your situation.
Do not to let your past define who you are.
Believe there are good people out there (even though you will mee some shitty ones along the way)
Most importantly
